Inspired by the masterful works of António Jacinto de Araújo, introduced in his 1797 publication Nova Arte de Escrever, Habil reimagines the elegance of calligraphic forms for modern typography. We're developing Habil to capture the fluidity and sensitivity of Araújo's calligraphy, blending historical refinement with contemporary design to meet the needs of today's typographic applications.
Habil is being designed in three optical sizes—High, Medium, and Low contrast—offering versatility for a wide range of design purposes. Whether for sophisticated packaging, striking editorial layouts, or dynamic graphic design projects, each size will be meticulously crafted to ensure clarity and aesthetic appeal.
The type family will feature an extensive collection of glyphs and stylistic variations, giving designers the tools to create truly distinctive and versatile typography. While Habil is not a direct replication of Araújo's original plates, it draws on his legacy, embodying the same spirit of innovation and artistry to bring calligraphic beauty into the modern era.
